Londonderry will suffer the blues this Wednesday, June 29, 2011, on the Town Common, but in a secure way. A summer tradition in Londonderry, this week`s Concerts on the Vulgar will have the Blues Brothers Next Generation. This Blue Brothers tribute band will meet those famous tunes, the way they`re supposed to be played.
The ring began in the Spring of 1996 when two friends joined together for a school talent show.
The duo was so well received, they decided to make on the act and perform whenever given the opportunity. A close friend, after watching countless practices and shows, taught himself to meet the harp and soon linked the duo.
Within a few years, the group added a bass player, keyboard player, drummer and star guitar player, creating a seven-member band known as "Soulhouse 7." The ring soon also added a trumpet section, including a sax, trumpet and trombone, and became the ten-member band it is today. At this time, the circle also became known as Blues Brothers the Next Generation.
The circle plays at various local venues and events, from the Pittsfield Rotary Balloon Rally, to, of course, Londonderry`s Concerts on the Common. For more around the band visit their website.
Tonight`s show is subject to the populace and, as always, free. The concert starts at 7 PM and leave be held rain or shine. Nice weather means the set will turn on the stand on the Town Common; rain means the lot will work in the High School Cafeteria.
Concerts On The Park is presented by the Londonderry Arts Council. Join them every Wednesday night to patronize local artists, and this big program. A special thank you to Mike Wenger and the LHS Math Team for providingweekly refreshments at the concerts; all proceeds go to support thisgreat program.
